New Zealand’s opportunity with refugees and migrants

This year, I celebrate my 30th anniversary of arriving in NZ as a refugee from Vietnam.

My NZ-born friend Peter Vile and I co-founded Augen in 1993, and since then have employed hundreds of staff in NZ. We have also built a strong presence for our NZ business in the Vietnam market.

I our view, this country was discovered by migrants, then founded by migrants, then built by generations of migrants ever since.

So, let’s not focus on whether refugees contribute, but rather on how we integrate all migrants faster, so that we can sooner tap into the current and future skills required to continue building this country together.
