NZTech Update – NZTech strategy, advocacy and Digital Skills Forum

Hi Readers

Last week, at the annual NZTech strategy day, the NZTech Board confirmed the continuation of the NZTech Strategy which is to connect tech firms and communities so that we can build scale, ensuring technology has a strong voice in New Zealand. With this growing voice we aim to promote the importance of technology and the tech sector, and how New Zealand is a leading digital nation. Our advocacy work underpins this, focussing on helping the economy and tech sector grow.

Every week, NZTech continues to grow as new members join. In alliance with other tech communities, we now represent over 400 organisations who employ over 60,000 people. With a growing voice, the media begins to add a multiplier, such as the TV news coverage at last week’s NZTech Security Summit.

This week, the Digital Skills Forum meeting in Wellington will continue to focus the efforts of the industry and the government on actions to reduce the growing tech skills shortages. While in Wellington, work will begin on producing an update to the Digital Nation report, which along with the recently released TIN100 report continues to drive home the message of the tech sector being a critical growth engine for New Zealand’s future.

Have an excellent week.
All the best
Graeme
